Bio:
Barbara learned about the Son-Rise Program during her studies to be a special needs teacher in 2001 when she joined a lovely family to help their autistic child. Among others she worked with the little boy for two years as a volunteer using the Son-Rise Program. During this time she visited the Autism Treatment Center of America in Sheffield Massachusetts, where she spent 11 weeks as a volunteer.
After having graduated as a special needs teacher at the university, Barbara moved to Sweden for 10 months and to Scotland for 8 months to work with Son-Rise families to get more experience. She worked four years in different Son-Rise Programs altogether, before she started her professional Child Facilitator training at The Autism Treatment Center of America in August 2006.
The 1.5 years provided her with the opportunity to learn to love and accept someone without any judgments or expectations. Barbara says it was an incredible experience and a special chance to grow. Barbara finished her training in February 2008, and has been working full-time with Son-Rise families since then.
